Young people across Cumbria are being encouraged to share their views on the future of the county through a new county-wide survey ahead of the election of Cumbria’s first Mayor in 2027.
The Future Generation Group is inviting people aged 14–35 to take part in the Youth Ask survey, which aims to gather the views, experiences and aspirations of the next generation of Cumbrians.
The introduction of a Mayor for Cumbria will bring new investment into the county and provide greater influence over key areas including transport, housing, skills, training and employment. As decisions are made about the future direction of the region, young people are being offered a unique opportunity to help shape the conversation.
Why take part?
The survey explores what it is like to live, work and build a future in Cumbria, and asks participants what changes they would like to see in the years ahead.
The findings will be presented directly to Mayoral candidates, helping to ensure that the priorities and ambitions of younger people are represented during the election process.
Calling all employers and parents
The Future Generation Group is also encouraging employers and parents to help spread the word.
Businesses that employ apprentices, trainees, graduates or younger members of staff are invited to share the survey within their organisations and encourage participation. Likewise, parents and guardians are encouraged to pass the opportunity on to young people in their families and networks.
Complete the survey
The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.
As a thank you for taking part, respondents will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win a £100 online shopping voucher.
