Skills Bootcamps in Cumbria

The skills bootcamps are part of the Government Lifetime Skills Guarantee, aimed at helping everyone gain skills with bespoke training solution to bridge existing skills gaps within high demand sectors.

They’re funded through the Department for Education and form part of the National Skills Fund and places the employer at the centre of training and development.

The bootcamps themselves are flexible courses that last up to 16 weeks and give people the chance to build sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with local employers.

Cumbria LEP has identified 13 projects to support organisations, sector representative groups, employers and delivery partners in the local area to bridge skills shortages.

The projects will provide flexible training programmes for adults delivered by a range of quality assured training providers. This flexible approach allows adults to train around existing commitments.

They are free to the learner and there is also no cost to employers in recruiting individuals who have completed a skills bootcamp.
