Cumbria Chamber of Commerce is hosting an important online training session for employers on Thursday 11th December, 10am – 12pm, focusing on your legal responsibilities around preventing sexual harassment in the workplace.
Under current employment law, employers have additional duties they must meet and Employment Tribunals have the power to award increased compensation if businesses fail to comply. This session will explain what those duties look like in practice, the risks of non-compliance, and the practical steps employers can take to reduce those risks within their organisation.
About the trainer
The session is delivered by Michael Bauer, a fully qualified employment solicitor with 27 years’ experience. Michael has worked in international firms in London and Manchester and now runs Cumbria Employment Solicitors, advising employers of all sizes across the region. He also served as a part-time Employment Judge for five years, giving him valuable insight into how Employment Tribunals assess cases. His training style is known for being practical, down-to-earth and solution focused.
Why this matters for local businesses
Creating a safe, respectful working environment is essential for all employers – not just from a legal compliance perspective, but also for staff wellbeing, retention and workplace culture. This session gives business owners and managers clear guidance on:
• Understanding employer obligations
• Recognising and managing risks

• Handling issues confidently and appropriately
Cost
The session is priced at £25.00 + VAT.
