New Guidance on Employment Statuses

The government has issued guidance that will act as a one-stop-shop for business and individuals to understand employment rights and which apply to them.

It’s expected that workers and businesses will benefit from better clarity over their employment status published by the government at the end of July.

An employment status defines the rights and employment protection workers are entitled to at work, including things like pay, leave, working conditions, and this dictates the responsibilities that an employer owes a worker.

This new guidance covers:

Business Minister Jane Hunt said: “Today we are tidying up the rules, helping workers to find out if they are being treated fairly by their workplace.”
