Leading a business can be rewarding, but for owners, managers and team leaders, the demands of running an organisation can also create sustained pressure.
Cumbria Chamber of Commerce is hosting Leading Under Pressure: Preventing Burnout, Overload and Decision Fatigue, a practical online workshop designed to help leaders recognise overload earlier and develop healthier, more sustainable approaches to leadership.
Taking place on Wednesday 18 November 2026, the three-hour session will explore some of the challenges that can arise when operational responsibility, staffing issues, workload pressures and constant decision-making fall to the same individuals.
Recognising pressure before it becomes burnout
The workshop will look at how leaders and teams can identify the signs of burnout and overload, while considering practical ways to manage pressure and competing priorities.
Key topics will include:
- Recognising burnout and overload in leaders and teams
- Managing competing priorities and constant pressure
- Understanding decision fatigue and reactive leadership
- Developing healthier approaches to boundaries, delegation and workload management
- Leading more clearly through uncertainty and change
The session is designed to support leaders in balancing organisational accountability and direction with a more sustainable approach to their own workload and leadership responsibilities.
Who is the workshop for?
The training is particularly suited to:
- Business owners
- SME leaders and managers
- Team leaders and supervisors
- Growing organisations
- New or developing managers
For smaller and growing businesses, where leaders can often carry a wide range of operational responsibilities, developing sustainable leadership habits can be an important part of building organisational resilience.
