Applications open for regional talent engines programme

The regional talent engines programme is a six month tailor made programme to support aspiring engineering and technology entrepreneurs in Northern Ireland and Northern England.

Designed for upcoming business founders and early stage start-ups it aims to transform great ideas into new engineering solutions to help get businesses off the ground and ready to go for bigger growth.

The programme starts in March 2023.

Who is eligible? 

People should have some background or training in a technical area, have an idea that can be developed into a scalable business and are based in the eligible areas.

What sort of ideas? 

It should be a concept that has been researched to justify the viability. It doesn’t need to have experimental proof or a prototype as these are worked on in the programme.

What do you mean by engineering? 

All areas of engineering are eligible including things like – agricultural, digital, biomedical, fintech, mechanical, electrical, chemical, nuclear and space technology. Those wanting to set up consultancy services or ideas that don’t have any innovation are not eligible.

Launching 

The programme will give you practical support to refine your innovation and bring your idea to life so that by the end of the programme you’ll be ready to find further support for your startup or pitch your first investment.

As part of the programme you’ll have access to –

  • equity free funding of £20,000 towards living and business support costs
  • expert mentoring
  • training, roundtables and events
  • 1-2-1 coaching
  • lifelong membership to the Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Hub
  • lifetime access to co-working and meeting spaces at the Taylor Centre in London and Ormeau Baths in Belfast
